The main intention of Karen's classes is to be safe, accessible and comfortable. While not every class is suitable for every body, there are classes to suit most bodies.
Her classes are both deeply serious and transformational with a touch of light heartedness.
Karen's teaching style encourages the individual to find their way to practice a posture. Her study of Yoga Therapy has given her a huge toolbox of modifications that she can suggest you use to make your yoga practice more individual. She encourages you to find your best self.
Whether you have a painful lower back, troublesome knees, tight shoulders etc, Karen can give you options to modify so that you can still access the benefits of yoga. If getting down on the floor is a struggle, there is a class that works mostly in a chair.
Karen's classes include a varied mix of ages and abilities where no-one feels judged or awkward. They have a real communal feel.
If you are looking to deepen your practice, Karen offers one on ones, short retreats and workshops. Each term Karen likes to focus on a different facet of yoga, either physical or philosophical, so that her students practice becomes more holistic.
About Karen:
Karen Lenehan has been teaching yoga in Wagga Wagga since 2009, after she completed her 500hr Yoga Teacher Training. During this time she has taught general classes and Beginner Courses at Divine Wellbeing and The Simp-Lee Yoga Centre in Wagga Wagga offering a mix of Hatha, Vinyasa and more recently Yin. She also has small intimate classes at her home yoga room and works privately as a qualified Yoga Therapist.
Karen’s area of experience and interest is with people who feel they don't fit in to a regular yoga class. She is also especially concerned about women over the age of 40 who have been injured and/or are overburdened and feeling the effects of age.
Karen started practicing yoga at the age of 46yrs. She enjoyed it from the start and realised she had found something for herself that she hadn't realised she was looking for. At the beginning it was the yoga philosophy that interested her the most, it was only later that she began to understand the power of the Asana practice.
Karen is very keen to run classes that are safe and inclusive. She continues her studies in Yoga for (dis)abilities, Yoga for Pelvic Health and Yoga for Back Pain. She believes that there is a practice for everyone regardless of age, gender, ability, size and profession. She has successfully worked with and provided an appropriate practice for people who have lost motor skills as well as professional athletes.
"I first attended a Yoga class with Karen Lenehan in 2009 in Wagga Wagga NSW. At the time Karen was completing her training to become a Yoga instructor. This was my first experience with Yoga.
I have continued to practice yoga with Karen since this time and have enthusiastically recommended her to others.
Karen is a wonderful teacher who has attracted a strong following of regular attendees at her classes. Karen takes the time to ensure those attending her classes are safe, always keeping her eye out for anyone requiring an alternative posture or requiring an adjustment. Karen is always calm, encouraging, kind and generous with her time and has actively assisted develop and grow the Yoga community in Wagga"

"I have had the pleasure and the privilege of Karen Lenehan as my Yoga Instructor for the last six years, commencing in September 2013. I currently attend two classes a week.
Karen has the skill, knowledge and expertise to make any member of her class feel welcome and valued. While instructing and leading a group practice she has the individual needs and capabilities of each student in mind making suggestions and encouraging all to reach a skill level that is suitable for them.
Some years back I required major surgery and it was the preparation and recovery phases that Karen’s skill and expertise came to the fore. She guided me through my recovery with modified movements which assisted in rebuilding my health and fitness. My post-operative recovery was quite remarkable, and I am very grateful for her passion for the healing properties of a Yoga practice.
I am consistently recommending Karen’s classes to friends and family."

"Karen has intuitive skills to make each session unique and tuned to you, despite it being a group session. She is also excellent at explaining - the what and how. And you'll learn a snippet about Yoga as well - and it's amazing benefits. Once you start with Karen you are not likely to stop."
Ann, Wagga Wagga
"I restarted yoga on my return to wagga. I have always enjoyed Karen’s sessions, the gratitude the mindfulness and the stress relief. Than I found out I was having surgery. With previous surgeries I have known that preparing my body and mind for this trauma makes all the difference. With this gentle practice my recovery has been easier. Preparing my body and mind with Karen’s sessions pre op has meant that I am mobile quicker which enhances my healing processes both mentally and physically. The more movement I have makes Karen’s post op program easier to tackle. Thanks Karen"

“I had to have several operations and radiation to treat my Castleman’s disease. The radiation, which entailed my head and shoulders being secured to a bed, was quite frightening. It is the yogic breathing exercises that Karen taught me that got me through these stressful procedures. By focusing on the breathing and not what was happening, that enabled me to stay calm. The exercises were invaluable to me at that time and I still use them today.”

"In 2020 I was diagnosed with major depression from my working life. As a part of my rehabilitation and development I looked for options that would help reconnect myself with my mind, body and spirit. I reached out to Karen with my conditions and she was more than happy to develop a program around the requirements that I needed. Throughout my time with Karen we developed my simple body movements through the practise of yoga but also worked on how my mind reacted and engaged with the way I thought. Overall the time I spent with Karen helped improve my mobility in movement, ability and understanding of good movement patterns when completing a desk job and through the practice of meditation a mindset that has set me up for success in the year 2021. I highly recommend Karen yoga practices."
Adam, Wagga Wagga
"Many thanks for your email and thank you for running the beginners class.
I have always wanted to try yoga and the thought of entering a class full of experienced yogis and not being able to keep up had always held me back.
Just wanted to share with you a few good things that came out of the course for me:
I really enjoyed your teaching style and would like to continue with some classes."
Tracey, Wagga Wagga
re: Yoga and Permaculture Day - May 1st, 2022
I registered for this day as soon as I saw it advertised. What a great way to learn from such an experienced practitioner, Karen. I was certainly not disappointed. Karen shared her knowledge and experiences with passion for the topics and their synchronicity. The location was perfect to start the day with energising Yoga and provided real examples of many permaculture principles in practice. The practical demonstrations were a great opportunity to see, do and ask more questions. And to top it off we shared delicious morning tea and lunch, all prepared by Karen with food from her garden. Thank you Karen for a wonderful day full of inspiration. Ann
